Lighthouse offers a wide array of full and half-day summer camps from June through August for young writers ages eight to 18. Whether they've got a few novels under their belt, are new but curious about poems, or are a reluctant writer, our camps offer a fun, creative, and challenging way for young people to explore and express who they are, build new friendships, and create truly beautiful works of art.

Let’s dive into the wonders of our local area in All About Tampa Bay! They’ll learn about the legendary pirate José Gaspar and the folklore behind the Gasparilla Festival, even creating their own pirate flags for a mini parade. Campers will explore the geography of Tampa Bay by building 3D maps, discovering the bridges, rivers, and landmarks that make our area special. Campers will celebrate our city’s iconic teams like the Buccaneers, Lightning, and Rays.

Join the green revolution! In this environmentally focused camp, campers will dive into hands-on challenges that show how wind, solar, and water energy can be used to power the world around us. They’ll also learn about real-world applications of renewable energy and how engineers use these technologies to create a more sustainable future. From crafting solar ovens to building eco-friendly bridges, campers will participate in creative challenges that harness the power of nature.

In this open studio format, students will meet and work with guest artists while being guided by a main mentor to further explore their artistic interests and to branch out to new approaches. Campers will engage in group critiques, access and training in ceramic, digital, and multimedia techniques, and exhibit their creations in a group show at the end of the week.

Lights, camera, LEGO®! Campers will transform their colorful bricks into exciting stop-motion films, taking on the role of both director and creator. In this action-packed camp, campers will pair up to develop their own stories, storyboard their ideas, and bring them to life using LEGO® bricks in thrilling stop-motion animations. They’ll learn the art of storytelling, design custom LEGO® sets, and even add sound effects and music to make their mini-movies come to life.
