Blockbuster Science: The Magic Behind the Movies
Lights, camera, science! In Blockbuster Science, campers will embark on an epic adventure to uncover the real-life science behind their favorite movies. This interactive camp takes young scientists and movie lovers behind the scenes, exploring the jaw-dropping special effects, stunts, and movie magic that make films unforgettable.
Campers will dive into hands-on experiments, learning how science powers everything from the explosions in action movies to the gravity-defying stunts in superhero films. They’ll even explore the physics behind epic space battles and the chemistry of creating realistic-looking props. Every day is packed with movie-inspired challenges that bring the science of cinema to life!
By the end of the week, campers will walk away with a deeper appreciation for both science and cinema, along with the critical thinking skills and creativity to see the world through the lens of a movie scientist. Who: Campers between the ages of 8 and 12 (We offer more camps for ages 4-14)
What: Project-based, hands-on, STEAM-focused summer camps
Where: Apollo Academy in Hyde Park (1309 W Swann Ave Tampa, FL 33606) 8 weeks of summer camps from June 16th to August 8th
When: Camps are 8:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday; Half-day options available. Aftercare until 5pm is available for an additional cost.
