Virtual Event: Marine Biology of the Rocky Shore

*The event has already taken place on this date: Mon, 09/28/2020
In this one-time class, participants will get an introduction of the Northern California coastal habitat, the rocky shore. Throughout the course, we will ask students to make and share their observations. Our expert Marine Educators will guide students through the experience leading the student's virtual exploration. We will cover the geology and tidal actions that affect this habitat, focusing on the adaptations coastal animals have to thrive in the Rocky Shore. We will review the zones of the tidepools and unique stressors of these areas, and dive deeper into specific organisms found at our aquarium and out in the field using pictures and video footage. Using an inquiry-based approach, instructors will prompt students to share ideas with the class to help lead discussions and further the exploration.
