Planet Fabulon: LEVEL UP *Remastered* - Family Friendly Event!

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 10/31/2020
Looking for something fun and safe to do with the kiddos for Halloween this year? The silly, sci-fi event series Planet Fabulon is putting on a family-friendly, interactive retro videogame costume dance party that you can watch/play/boogie to from the comfort and safety of your living room... just in time for Halloween! Our larger-than-life characters and bouncey bands will thrill all galactic creatures, big and small!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

PEOPLE OF EARTH GET READY TO LEVEL UP... AGAIN!!!

After the success of Planet Fabulon’s original video game adventure, and with an assist from the Canada Council for the Arts, LEVEL UP is back with new challenges, new live music performances, and a more immersive experience… just in time for Halloween!

Chocked full of amazing local musicians, circus performers, real-time challenges using things you can find around the house, prize packs, and larger-than-life characters including an evil drag queen! It's like interactive children's theatre, but from the comfort of your home! Audiences will choose what path the Hero character takes to defeat the evil bosses and save the day!

The show is 65-75min and runs for 4 nights over 2 weekends, ending on Halloween night. Our goal is to try to provide a fun and safe way to enjoy the season since so many are nervous about taking their kids out this year and looking for alternatives/additions to trick or treating.

Wish you could spend the evening with yours and your kids' friends? Tell your neighbours to buy tickets on the same night and you'll get to see each other! The show runs through Zoom so your webcam will act as a JumboTron, connecting you with everyone else playing that night!

DR. DRAW

There are very few names that can promise you won’t leave their gravitational pull without undergoing some kind of transformative emotional experience, and one of those names is Dr. Draw. The Moscow born electric violinist learned his craft busking on the streets of Toronto where he earned his stage moniker as a healer of the spirit. Dr. Draw has seen much success in the past 4 years, playing internationally and opening for star acts including John Legend, Mariah Carey, Shaggy, 2 Cellos, and Drake. He and his band of misfits will provide us with some one-of-a-kind violin-electro-house grooves.

THE KOOPA TROOP

The Koopa Troop brings the nostalgic sounds of video games to life in a quirky 5-piece ensemble. Donning  their Nintendo-themed costumes, 5 Toronto jazz musicians embrace their inner nerd and become a live, musical nostalgia machine. Bringing the best video game composers to the forefront, Koopa Troop’s jazz, rock, funk, and swing-infused arrangements bring the epic pixelated melodies of the past into the real world.

KIKA

Kika emerges from your neighbourhood dance floor friend, Erika Williams, who jumped feet first into Toronto's electronic music scene 4 years ago. You can catch Kika playing at private parties and community favourites alike such as EveryBody and Architextures, where she spins her own blend of bouncy minimal to deep house to dance music. Kika will launch us into space with the iconic Fabulon sound: sci-fi spacey disco tunes you can’t help but blast off to.
