Farm Day Spring 2020
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 03/14/2020
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Each spring and fall we open the farm for our friends, neighbors, customers or those who wish to see the facility (functional, not fancy). There will be only one session and you may visit ONLY during the posted hours. And for those who cannot make the Farm Day and want to visit, we have exciting news! We have recently joined AirBNB Experiences and will be offering scheduled tours throughout the year as part of AirBNB (see here for more info https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/797597?source=p2). All tours must be scheduled through AirBNB due to insurance regulations.
A welcome, introduction to the farm and our team will start right at noon with farm tour to follow. Our volunteers will be here to welcome you and answer questions. Doors open to visit the animals after the introductions and welcome. You do not have to come exactly at 12 but if you would like to see the awesome group behind the scenes of this farm, we introduce them during the opening half hour! The Farm Day will only be open on this day and until 4pm. A parking attendant will be on site to direct you to a parking space - please only park where directed.
• There is a entry of $8 per adult (18 and over), kids 5-18 are $4.00 and under 5 are free. We incur a lot of extra expenses from porta potty to extra labor to team member breakfast and lunch (to bribe them to be here on a day they normally would not) to have this Farm Day so we hope you will understand we need to cover expenses.
• We are happy to provide live music all day.
• Food available for sale
• Water and soft drinks will also be available.
• We will have a couple other “green” like minded farmers selling plants.
• Treats will be sold by one of our partner charity organizations for you to feed the goats (no outside treats) as a fund raiser for their program.
• Pet the emus - our newest adddition to the farm.
We ask that you gather in our front area where the music starts, food is available and our plant vendors will open at 11:30am. Intros will start right after noon. You will be escorted on the farm for a short tour, or you can wander on your own, to enjoy communing with the animals until 4pm. There will be milking demonstrations once an hour during the day. Our Farm and Milking Team will be on hand to answer any questions as well as members of our Nanny Team to tell about the Nanny experience. Meet all the fabulous team members who keep this farm running and let them share the excitement.
Signing a release of liability will be required upon entrance....that is to make our attorney happy as we do not have any liability insurance but shall serve as a reminder that this is a working farm and inherent dangers exist.
Please do not gather eggs, enter animal pens, enter the gardens unattended, pick the produce or go in private areas without permission. Our team members will be circulating around the farm. While we do not have babies at this time, you are invited to feed our goats the treats that are being sold at the farm (no outside treats) and pet, hug and love on our animals!
ABSOLUTELY NO PETS! Hand sanitizer stations are available for your convenience as well as soap and water. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and be mindful of their safety. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILDREN OUT OF YOUR SIGHT! This is a working farm and there are many temptations and dangers! Unattended children will be given a large Mountain Dew, free kitten and allowed to climb manure mountain....well not really but you catch the drift.
As always, (parents and children) dress appropriate to the farm. If you wear heels, you will regret it! There is a good bit of uneven ground and pavers.
Our location is 12502 Maverick Court, Tampa, FL 33626 - From Pinellas County go north or south on any major artery to 580. Turn east on 580 and go to Race Track Road and turn north (left) and follow directions below. From Hillsborough County go west on Hillsborough to Race Track Road and turn north (right) and follow signs! If you come west on Linebaugh, turn south (left) at Race Track Road. Look for the BRIGHT GOLD FARM DAY sign at the entrance to our subdivision!
Our development is Twin Branch Acres. Please observe all speed limits and be respectful of our neighbors. Turn into the development, go 1.2 miles and Maverick Court will be on the left hand side. Look for a parking attendant to tell you where to park. Do NOT park on your own. We are very mindful of the public exposure of our community and wish to maintain a positive impact.
Please feel free to share this invitation!
